Face Recognition

What kind of sensors are used?

• 2D Cameras - Get pixel values, similar to fingerprints - Predominitely used

• 3D Range scanners

  • Get distance of parts of face (x, y, z)

• Video

Sensors

Visible light

Near Infrared (NIR) - can take images in dark, can have ring of NIR leds, can burn if too strong

Thermal - good in dark (better than NIR), no source of light, passive sensor, affected by heat of light
